Ernesto Kahan's Proposal for the Future of HumanityThe persistent and urgent problem of peace has been the subject of discussion for more than a century, without a harmonious, stable and generalized solution being found. The presence of sophisticated and powerful weapons has aggravated the consequences of conflicts, but has also generated a growing awareness of the need for disarmament agreements and efforts to achieve universal peace.
Although the United Nations was created in 1945 with the objective of maintaining peace, international security and promoting friendly relations between nations, unfortunately, to date, it has not achieved its goals due to significant differences of interests among its members.
It is evident that the role of money in society, which corrupts and buys wills and nations, as well as the marked differences in human conceptions and ideologies, are key factors that hinder progress towards peace in a globalized world.
Despite efforts to achieve peaceful coexistence between the world's main religions, progress has been minimal, maintaining significant gaps with science and its advances. Albert Einstein, inspired by the ideas of Baruch Spinoza, advocated the unification of science and religions, as well as a reverent respect for nature and its laws, suggesting that this could have contributed considerably to the achievement of a stable peace.
While my proposal to abolish money and create a new religion based on universal values associated with science and respect for a totalizing ethic may seem utopian, it is imperative that these goals be addressed with real, effective and feasible arguments. We cannot settle for following the same patterns of behavior. If we want to have a better future, even if it hurts us, we must stop living depending on the parts of the past that paralyze us. I recognize that my proposal is revolutionary and possibly the most difficult to implement. However, as I look at human history, I find inspiration in the possibilities for success. It is plausible that these changes will also lead to a reevaluation of the current pathological accumulation of goods, simplifying the way of life and separating the individual needs to acquire and maintain objects from the needs for public use. This change could improve the quality of life in terms of harmony between humans, nature and the resources of human society.

Propuesta de Ernesto Kahan para el Futuro de la Humanidad
El persistente y urgente problema de la paz ha sido objeto de discusión durante más de un siglo, sin que se haya logrado encontrar una solución armoniosa, estable y generalizada. La presencia de armas sofisticadas y poderosas ha agravado las consecuencias de los conflictos, pero también ha generado una creciente conciencia sobre la necesidad de acuerdos de desarme y esfuerzos por alcanzar la paz universal.
Aunque las Naciones Unidas fueron creadas en 1945 con el objetivo de mantener la paz, la seguridad internacional y promover relaciones amistosas entre naciones, lamentablemente, hasta la fecha, no ha logrado sus metas debido a las significativas diferencias de intereses entre sus miembros.
Resulta evidente que el papel del dinero en la sociedad, que corrompe y compra voluntades y naciones, así como las marcadas diferencias en las concepciones humanas e ideologías, son factores clave que obstaculizan el progreso hacia la paz en un mundo globalizado.
A pesar de los esfuerzos por lograr la coexistencia pacífica entre las principales religiones del mundo, los avances han sido mínimos, manteniendo brechas significativas con la ciencia y sus avances. Albert Einstein, inspirado por las ideas de Baruch Spinoza, abogaba por la unificación de la ciencia y las religiones, así como por un respeto reverente hacia la naturaleza y sus leyes, sugiriendo que esto podría haber contribuido considerablemente a la consecución de una paz estable.
Si bien mi propuesta de abolir el dinero y crear una nueva religión basada en valores universales asociados a la ciencia y al respeto por una ética totalizadora puede parecer utópica, es imperativo que estas metas se aborden con argumentos reales, efectivos y factibles. No podemos conformarnos con seguir los mismos patrones de comportamiento. Si queremos tener un mejor futuro, aunque nos duela, debemos dejar de vivir dependiendo de las partes del pasado que nos paraliza.
Reconozco que mi propuesta es revolucionaria y posiblemente la más difícil de implementar. No obstante, al observar la historia humana, encuentro inspiración en las posibilidades de éxito. Es plausible que estos cambios también conduzcan a una reevaluación de la actual y patológica acumulación de bienes, simplificando el modo de vida y separando las necesidades individuales de adquirir y mantener objetos, de las necesidades de uso público. Este cambio podría mejorar la calidad de vida en términos de armonía entre los seres humanos, la naturaleza y los recursos de la sociedad humana.

Now, approaching the flight of this book, we are ready to get our message effectively read by the world's top leaders... We hope that you, the reader, will help us get this book into the hands of our world leaders, as Pope Francis, and other religious leaders in each country and in each cultural group, such as the President of the United States of America or at least the congressmen of that country: also the Kings of the different countries where there is a monarchy, prime ministers, etc.
I dream of making the book stop a missile, stopping the hand that was supposed to press the red button that controls it. I dream that this book will become an anti-missile shield that, even if it does not stop a bombing of a building somewhere on the globe, will serve to raise awareness about peace.

Mission Statement
There is no human conflict, which cannot be solved without violence. Not individual and not collective.
In ancient times, violence meant struggle, but today due to the existing technology, it can reach extinction. Therefore, it is urgent to resolve conflicts with non-violent or peaceful agreements.
Before it is too late, we call on all people, and especially on institutions, to establish this ICP as a framework, for in solidarity, to work for peace.
Organization
In the world, there are hundreds, if not thousands of organizations that, among their missions, is working for peace, either as a main or complementary objective. Unfortunately, independently, we fail to have the desired impact. For this purpose, we create ICP to join forces.
The institutional functioning of ICP will be democratic and representative.
In this coalition, each accepted organization, will be represented with a delegation at the ICP International Congress, which is the highest institutional body.
The ICP International Congress, by the means to be determined, will meet periodically, to set the lines of action and elect every 3 or 4 years, the Executive Committee, the President (s), the vice-presidents of each geographic area that will be defined, and to elect also Accounts Reviews and Legal Affairs committees.
The Executive Committee will present to the ICP International Congress, for its approval, the policies, plans and programs, budget, structural modifications of the ICP and financing, proposals for the institutional elections of the ICP members and functions of the voluntary and paid administrative team. It will also organize the agenda and proposals of the ICP members, for the operation of the ICP International Congress.
Instruments
The instruments will be multiple and will be approve by the ICP institutions. These include outreach campaigns, interviews with world leaders, commissions of facilitators for negotiation in conflict zones, publications, public demonstrations, etc.

Estado de la misión
No hay conflicto humano que no se pueda resolver sin violencia. No individual y no colectivo.
En la antigüedad la violencia significaba lucha, hoy por la tecnología existente, puede llegar a la extinción.
Por ello, urge resolver los conflictos con acuerdos no violentos o pacíficos.
Antes que sea demasiado tarde, llamamos a todas las personas y especialmente a las instituciones,
a constituirnos en trabajo solidario por la paz. ICP
No estamos solos, y no queda otro camino que el respeto mutuo.
Organización
En el mundo hay cientos, sino miles de organizaciones que, entre sus misiones, se encuentra el trabajar por la paz, ya sea como objetivo principal o complementario. Lamentablemente, en forma independiente, no logran tener el impacto deseado. Por tal fin, se crea la ICP, para unir esfuerzos.
El funcionamiento institucional de ICP será democrático y representativo
En esta coalición, una vez aceptadas, cada organización estará representada con una delegación en el Congreso Internacional de ICP, que es el organismo superior institucional.
El Congreso Internacional de ICP, se reunirá periódicamente, por la vía que se determine, para fijar las líneas de acción y elegir cada 3 o 4 años, al Comité Ejecutivo, al o los presidente, a los vicepresidentes de cada área geográfica que se determine y a los comités de Revisión de cuentas y de Asuntos legales.
El Comité Ejecutivo presentará al el Congreso Internacional de ICP, para su aprobación, las políticas, planes y programas, presupuesto, modificaciones estructurales de ICP y financiamiento, propuestas para las elecciones institucionales de la ICP y miembros y funciones del equipo administrativo voluntario y remunerado. También organizará la agenda y propuestas de los miembros de ICP, para el funcionamiento del Congreso Internacional de ICP.
Instrumentos
Los instrumentos serán múltiples, y serán aprobados por las instituciones de ICP. Entre ellos campañas de difusión, entrevistas con líderes mundiales, comisiones de facilitadores para negociación en zonas de conflictos, publicaciones, demostraciones públicas, etc.

Dear Leader of an Organization for Peace
We are writing on behalf of the ICP: International Coalition for Peace to invite you and your prestigious peace organization to join the International Coalition for Peace.
This structure has been created following an initiative by Prof. Ernesto Kahan, MD MPH (former Vice President of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, that earned the Peace Nobel Prize in1985), as mentioned in one of our presidential meetings at the WWPO, Worldwide Peace Organization. There we decided to support his initiative and give to him all our efforts and support to create this new organization, called to be a strong institution to give a voice and even solutions for the unstable global situation that the world confronts in these times.
Although we, Prof. Dr. Ernesto Kahan, Prof. Maria Cristina Azcona and Dr. Bruce Lawrence Cook, have founded this new organization, it will not be ours but of all those who join, since it will be an independent NGO. to unify all our efforts, internationally. There are hundreds, possibly thousands of NGOs that support peace and the defense of human rights throughout the world.
The idea is to create a coalition to maintain our different perspectives and identities, providing a unique voice to speak in front of international powers and authorities in all countries worldwide.
This unique voice will not be ours or even yours, but will be a consensual voice among all Peace NGOs around the globe.
Until we find a bridge to dialogue and find a synthesis among us, all our separate efforts are less likely to prevent violence, war, and terrorism worldwide.
This new organization (International Coalition for Peace) will be electable annually following the scheme presented further under “Organization”, so the new NGO will not have any power or authority over the other organizations and will be one more of all of them.
Ernesto Kahan, Maria Cristina Azcona and Bruce Lawrence Cook, presidential committee of the organization WWPO, will only receive future acknowledgment as founders of this Global Coalition and since this moment they are the ICP Founding Committee.
As this new organization aims to be representative and democratic, the leaders and office holders can only be eligible, as well as the rest of the members, while the aforementioned leaders of the WWPO (World Peace Organization) organization must be democratically elected. For the purposes of holding management positions in ICP.
It is necessary to join hands around the idea of a new world where respect and peace may be possible.

Aunque nosotros, Prof. Dr. Ernesto Kahan, Prof. Maria Cristina Azcona y Dr. Bruce Lawrence Cook, hemos fundado esta nueva organización, no será nuestra, sino de todos los que se adhieran, ya que será una ONG independiente. Deseamos obtener su apoyo para unificar todos nuestros esfuerzos, a nivel internacional. Hay cientos, posiblemente miles de ONG que apoyan la paz y la defensa de los derechos humanos en todo el mundo.

Dr. Cook has resided in the Chicago area, California and North Carolina, plus assignments in Italy, India, and Papua New Guinea. His family includes his daughter (a schoolteacher), two sons (one a Nursing Assistant, and the other (an accountant) and a son who works as a senior Internet web developer). Sadly, his wife passed away from a brain tumor December (2011). Mary Homeier became his wife in July, 2013.
